Issues You Might Write About
- Voting for Rae Vogeler will not split the vote. The Republican candidate Lorge is so weak he can't even get
endorsed by his own party. The true choice comes down to either Rae or Herb Kohl. Vote your conscience … make a statement that
you want a strong, progressive Senator.
- Rae Vogeler is a progressive who represents Wisconsin ideals. On October 7th, the editors of the The Capital
Times wrote, "Vogeler is more in tune with the sentiments of Wisconsin voters than [incumbent Herb] Kohl or
[Republican Robert] Lorge."
- Rae Vogeler will fight to bring our troops home from Iraq now. Unlike her opponent, Herb Kohl, Rae has a strong
record of opposition to the war in Iraq. While Herb Kohl voted to authorize war against Iraq in 2002, and voted against setting
a timetable for bringing the troops home in 2006, Rae understands that the U.S. occupation of Iraq is destabilizing both that
country and the rest of the Middle East. Rae has attended national organizing conferences on Iraq in Michigan, Colorado,
California, and Washington, DC, and she knows peace and justice leaders throughout the country.
- Rae Vogeler fully supports the civil liberties of Wisconsinites. Her opponent, Herb Kohl, voted for the Patriot Act
in 2001, and voted for it again in 2006. Rae stands for repealing the Patriot Act and ending government surveillance of citizens
without a warrant. She also believes that the U.S. needs to close Guantánamo Bay and its secret prisons around the world.
- Rae Vogeler supports universal healthcare. In her words, "support a universal, comprehensive, national single-payer
health insurance program. The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world without a national health care
system. Our system is plagued by high costs and unequal access… Health care should not be a privilege."

- Rae Vogeler will vote NO to Wisconsin’s gay marriage ban. Rae understands that the civil unions and marriage ban
would hurt Wisconsin families, and that’s why she’s spoken out against it. Rae supports domestic partner benefits, same-sex
marriage, rights of LGBT families, and ending discrimination against gays and lesbians in the military. Herb Kohl has not
taken a stand against the ban, and in 1996, he voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which denied federal recognition of
same-sex marriages and gave states the right to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages licensed in other states.
- Wisconsin women deserve better representation in Congress. Rae Vogeler is the only woman in the current race for US
Senate. If elected, she would be Wisconsin’s first female senator. Right now, there are only fourteen women serving in the
Senate out of 100 senators.
- Rae Vogeler stands up for issues that matter to women. Rae is pro-choice and will fight for economic equality for
women and to end violence against women. Since the 1970s, Rae has been a leader for women's rights and reproductive rights,
working with the Women's Transit Authority, Rape Crisis Center, UWM Feminist Center, Women's Crisis Line, Women's Coalition of
Milwaukee, NOW, NARAL, and the Reproductive Rights National Network.
- Rae Vogeler supports racial justice and affirmative action. Rae says, "Race is the 500 pound gorilla in the American
closet. Racism will not go away by being ignored, and it is not a legacy we should pass on to the future." Rae opposes
English-only legislation, and supports enforcement of the Voting Rights Act, the strengthening of civil rights laws, and
increasing efforts to end racial discrimination in employment, education, health care and housing.

- Rae Vogeler is 100% pro-choice. Rae believes that women should have the right to control their bodies, and she
supports affordable access to safe family planning services. More info.
- Rae Vogeler represents working Wisconsinites; Herb Kohl represents Wisconsin’s millionaires. Rae is a working mom
with two kids, trying to put food on the table for her family while saving for her children’s college education. Herb Kohl is a
multi-millionaire and owner of the Milwaukee Bucks. His wealth is worth about $250 million.
- Rae Vogeler wants to look for clean energy solutions. While Rae supports clean, renewable energy, conservation and
mass transit, incumbent Senator Herb Kohl voted for Bush's Energy Bill, giving away billions of dollars to the oil and nuclear
industries. More info.
- Rae Vogeler believes in fair, progressive taxation. She thinks it's time for the wealthy to start paying their
fair share, and knows that the $56.5 billion slated for tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% will get this year could provide full
health care for 13 million uninsured. Her opponent, Senator Herb Kohl, voted for tax cuts for the rich, and personally benefited
by saving over $1.5 million in 2004.
- Rae Vogeler supports strengthening our education system. While her opponent, Herb Kohl, voted for Bush's "No Child
Left Behind Act," Rae knows that this program is actually harming schools by limiting the funding that those that need extra
resources receive. More info.
- Rae Vogeler supports immigrant and worker rights. She knows that United States' "free trade" agreements have hurt
other nations, and supports fair wages and working conditions on countries that trade with the U.S. Rae has stood up for
stopping the criminalization of immigration and opposed HR4437. More info.
